One-of-a-Kind, Original MacKenzie-Childs Slant Front Secretary Desk / Bedroom Dresser.  This is certainly a rare piece. This is from the couples earliest days and belonged to a long-time friend of theirs.

Solid wood support bars automatically open underneath the slant front writing pad when the desk top is   opened.
There is NO key for the slant front lock.
4 sturdy support feet - have paint scuffs and nicks consistent with use
There are a few paint nicks common for it's use. STUDY ALL PHOTOS.
There is some places in the hand-painted design that are less smooth than others.

Measures 40 inches high x 32 inches wide x 18 inches deep to the front of the drawer knobs.
Opening the slant front desk and it
expands to 29 inches as a writing desk.
It has some minor signs of cosmetic wear, especially around the feet/base. But it is fully operational and functions as intended. Please STUDY ALL PHOTO'S as they become part of this item's description.

Provenance: this item is from the estate of a long-time family friend of Victoria and Richard. I met a person at the estate auction who personally knew the family. I was informed that the estate (woman and her husband) were long-time friends with Victoria & Richard. Their children grew-up together, they babysat for each other, etc. When the woman moved to Tucson, Richard came out and helped decorate her home with furnishings they had created from their homes in New York. I was told this desk was probably one of their early pieces made for their friend and was NOT a production or store item.  (There was a matching large double dresser and a regular dresser that I did not win in the estate auction.)  I had hoped to keep this item to use in my own home.  Alas, my husband is not as enthralled as I am. While he admires the quality it just does not fit our western ranch home decor.
As you know, the Mackenzie-Childs company changed ownership a couple of times from the original husband and wife creators. The present MC store staff may not be aware of the family connections to this piece but as I personally met a family member at the end of the sale - I was assured it is an ORIGINAL EARLY piece. And since then Victoria has confirmed to me personally their friendship and connections.

For protection - the hand-painted Mackenzie Childs drawer knobs MAY be removed and packed separately in the drawers. You will need a screwdriver to reinstall them.
This item will take 5 business days to prepare for shipping and then whatever shipping time is necessary to the buyers location.   Shipping companies bill by DIMENSIONAL WEIGHT and not actual weight. I've estimated the shipping carton size with interior padding at 46 inch high x 36 inches wide x 24 inches deep
Free local pick-up
from Bisbee, Arizona area, Sierra Vista, AZ and I am able to drive 2 hours North to Tucson, Arizona.  Appointments for pick-up must be scheduled by contacting me within 48 hrs of meet time.
If Buyer cannot do local pick-up, I
can arrange freight shipping with independent carriers
