Description
This is aGeorge Buffon Monkey Engraving VII Magot. 1749-1761 Hand colored copper plate engraving on hand made rag. Naturalist George Leclerc Compte de Buffon. George Buffon Monkeys produced in Paris and Amsterdam from 1749-1761. These old monkey prints are copper plate engravings on fine hand made laid rag with water coloring added.
This piece is framed and matted.

The original label on the back identifies the framer as W. King Ambler who started his business after WWII. He began framing the prints he sold around 1950.
Condition
This item is used/preowned. The art is in excellent condition. The frame shows some signs of wear. The dust cover paper backing shows light signs of wear.
