Description
The commercial Boeing 377 Stratocruiser, was a large long-range airliner developed from the Boeing C97 Stratocruiser, which was developed from the World War ll Boeing B-29 Superfortress. It had its first flight on 08 July, 1947. A total of 811 Stratofreighters were manufactured for the military, but only 55 for the airlines.Northwest Airlines was a major United States airlines founded in 1926. It had it's headquarters in Eagan, Minnesota, which is near the Minneapolis / St. Paul International Airport. The airline flew under the Northwest livery until 2010, when the livery was changed to Delta Airlines as a result of the Northwest/Delta merger.
On June 22, 1949, Northwest received its first double-decker Boeing B377 Stratocruiser. The Stratocruiser provided for more comfortable passenger accommodations and faster transpacific flights. It began flying from the West Coast to Honolulu in 1950, and Tokyo via Alaska in 1952. Northwest's fleet had ten Stratocruiser's and operated them from 1949 to 1960.
This 1:144 scale Corgi Aviation Northwest Airlines Boeing B-377 is a very rare, highly detailed, reproduction of this historical aircraft. It has excellent detail and Northwest graphics. It comes with a display stand and can be shown with the landing gear attached, or in the flight mode. This will be a great addition to any Northwest or prop lover or any aviation enthusiast's collection. The model is new and only taken out of the box for photographing purposes to better show the quality and fine detail.
NOTE:
The model is complete with the exception of one of the main landing gear in-flight doors. The model is being listed as used due to this, but is new.
